New Park & Ride in Anderlecht has room for 1,300 cars

A spanking new Park & Ride carpark has just opened in Anderlecht.  It's part of a regional plan to get drivers off the roads and onto public transport. The new Park & Ride provides space for 1,300 commuters to park their vehicle free of charge until 2020.  It's located at the Coovi-Ceria metro station.

Its location provides immediate access to the Brussels metro network and line 5.  The metro takes commuters to the city centre in a quarter of an hour.

The car park is close to the Antwerp Brussels motorway E19 and also offers places for 300 bikes!

Brussels mobility minister Pascal Smet: "It's ideal if people use a Park & Ride in Flanders or Wallonia, but for commuters who don't this is an ultimate opportunity to switch to public transport."

Starting 2020 commuters will need to purchase a car park season ticket.  The ticket costs 60 euros for a year plus 1.50 euros for every day the carpark is used.

The Anderlecht car park cost 14 million euros. Further Park & Rides are planned in Stalle, Esplanade, while Kraainem will be expanded too.
