A misty start to the long Ascension weekend

Today is Ascension Day, the day on which Christians commemorate the bodily ascension of Jezus Christ into Heaven. The Feast of the Ascension is a movable feast and it its celebrated each year 39 days after Easter Sunday. The Feast of the Ascension is a public holiday in Belgium and many people here also take the Friday following Ascension Thursday off too, making what is known here as a “bridge” between the public holiday and the weekend. Many people, possibly including yourself, will now have started what will be a 4-day weekend.

But what about the weather for the next few days?  Today (Thursday) started off grey with a lot of low cloud and mist in many areas. The mist will clear gradually and during the afternoon it will become sunny, first in the west and later in other areas too.

Thursday night will be generally clear. However, the is still a chance of some mist or fog. Minimum temperatures will fall to between 6°C and 9°C.

Friday will be mild and generally sunny, but with some cloud that will increase as the day progresses. Maximum temperatures will reach 17°C or 18°C at the coast and on high ground in the Ardennes and 20°C or 21°C in most other areas.

Saturday will be sunny. Winds will be moderate easterly. Some cloud could develop as the day goes on. Maximum temperatures will range between 20°C and 23°C.

Sunday will by sunny and quite warm. Thunderstorms over France could reach some border areas though. Temperatures will reach between 21°C and 25°C.
