“Serious indications” that dead Tomorrowland festivalgoer had taken drugs

The Antwerp Judicial Authorities report that based on the initial findings of a pathologist appointed to find the cause of death of a 27-year-old Indian man that was attending the Tomorrowland dance music festival it is probable that he had taken drugs.  The man died at Antwerp University Hospital on Saturday. He had first collapsed at the festival, but was resuscitated by paramedics at the scene.

The Antwerp Judicial Authorities launched an investigation. The police surgeon’s initial findings show “serious indications that this was a drug-related death”.

A further toxicological investigation will be carried out in order to prove conclusively that the man’s death was caused by drug use.  An Examining Magistrate is now carrying out a criminal investigation into trading illegal substances resulting in death.

Stéphanie Chomé of the Antwerp Judicial Authorities told VRT News that "The investigation is centres around tracing three people that supplied drugs to the victim”.  He added that currently no suspects have been identified.

Last year two women that were attending the Tomorrowland festival died of water poisoning after they had taken ecstasy there.
