Fewer new cars registered in October
There was yet another fall in the number of new cars registered. During last month 36,894 new cars were registered in Belgium, a fall of 15.19 compared with September 2017. However, the automobile industry federation the fall in the number of new cars registered was less pronounced than in September of this year.
The reason for the fall in the number of new cars registered is the introduction of a new system to define cars’ fuel consumption and emission levels that came into force from 1 September. Prior to the introduction of the new system, there were sales campaigns with special offers that lead to a peak in sales during the summer.
This is reflected in the figures for the first ten months of the year as a whole. During the period between 1 January and 31 October 492,616 cars were registered, 2.9% more than during the same period last year.
