An easy win for Belgium against Kazakhstan

Belgium’s national football team the Red Devils made it three wins out of three games in their Euro 2020 qualifying group on Saturday evening. Our boys made light work beating Kazakhstan 3-0 on Saturday evening. With 9 points the Red Devils top their qualifying group and seem well prepared to take on Scotland on Tuesday evening.

Ahead of the game tribute was paid to Eden Hazard for him having gained his 100th cap. His brother Thorgan (who also played in Saturday evening’s match) and the Belgian FA Chairman Gérard Linard took part in the pre-match ceremony for Real Madrid’s latest purchase.

The Belgian went on the attack from the outset, hoping to deal an early death blow to  the Kazakhs. A past from Eden Hazard gave Dries Mertens all he needed to put Belgium 1-0 up on 11 minutes. Timothy Castagne (photo below, left) made it 2-0 to Belgium 4 minutes later with his first international goal. With a two-goal cushion against a Kazakh side that was far inferior in pretty much every department, the Belgians turned things down a gear.

The Kazakh keeper Nepogodov made some excellent saves from amongst other Lukaku.

A lacklustre second half saw Belgium extend their lead on 50 minutes when Lukaku scored on the rebound. Only an excellent save by Nepogodov prevented Thorgan Hazard from making it 4-0 to Belgium.

The 3-0 result leaves Belgium top of Group I with 9 points from 3 games and a goal difference of +7.
