Gusts of high wind on the way, Code Yellow weather warning in force until Saturday afternoon

The Royal Metrological Institute KMI forecasts gusts of wind reaching between 70 and 80 km/h for Friday afternoon. All parks in Brussels have been closed since 12:30pm as a precautionary measure. Elsewhere, other towns, cities and municipality are taking measures to protect the general public. A Code Yellow weather warning is in force and the 1722 number for non-urgent interventions by the Fire Service is operational for the second time this week. 

A cold front will sweep across the country from France on Friday afternoon. Wind speeds will increase considerable. There could be gusts of between 70 and 80 km/h or even more. As a result of expected high wind speeds KMI has declared a Code Yellow weather warning that will remain in force until Saturday afternoon. 

Friday started with sun and high cloud. During the course of the morning cloud has increase and the afternoon will bring with it rain starting in the west. Temperatures will reach between 21°C and 25°C. On Friday afternoon there will be gusts of high wind.  There is a chance of thunder storms along the border with The Netherlands.  Friday night wwill be mainly dry with just a few showers in the west. Temperatures will fall to  8°C and 13°C. Gust of wind could still reach up to 70 km/h.   

Saturday will be very windy with some showers. Wind speeds will reach between 70 and 80 km/h in inland areas and 90 km/h at the coast.  By the evening it will become dry and the wind will die down. Maximum temperatures will reach 18°c or 19°C.
