Koen Van den Heuvel is the new Flemish Environment, Nature and Agriculture Minister

The Flemish Christian democrats have announced who will succeed Joke Schauvliege as the Minister responsible for the environment, nature and agriculture in the Flemish Government. Ms Schauvliege resigned on Tuesday evening. Her successor is Koen Van den Heuvel, the man that previously was the leader of the Christian democrat group in the Flemish Parliament. 

Koen Van den Heuvel is the Mayor of Puurs in Antwerp Province and has been a member of the Flemish Parliament since 2004. He became leader of the Christian democrat group in the Flemish Parliament. As an MP Mr Van den Heuvel has shown great interest in financial and budgetary affairs, home affairs, innovation and employment.    

 

Koen Van den Heuvel is the Mayor of Puurs in Antwerp Province and has been a member of the Flemish Parliament since 2004. He became leader of the Christian democrat group in the Flemish Parliament. He will head the Flemish Christian democrat list in Antwerp Province at the forthcoming elections on 26 May.  

The new Christian democrat group leader in the Flemish Parliament is Peter Van Rompuy, the son of the former President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy.
