De Lijn is selling 30 buses: take your chance starting from 450 euros!

The Flemish public transport company De Lijn is auctioning 30 of its buses online. Bids are welcome as from 450 euros, or 750 if you want a more recent model.

The buses are 14 years old and have covered half a million kilometres, over 300,000 miles. This being said, the inside is still original as they haven't been dismantled it yet, except for the yellow boxes to validate your ticket.

If you buy a bus, you will have to remove the yellow De Lijn logos on the outside. And there is something else. The engines no longer meet the latest emission standards, as they belong to the Euro 2 category. They cannot enter low-emission zones in the city of Antwerp, Ghent or Brussels, to give just an example.

This will not deter potential buyers though, as the main target are people who want to turn the vehicles into a big campervan or motorhome, or those who are after the spare parts to do business.

De Lijn has been replacing old buses for some time now. The target is to have only electric buses running in major cities by 2025.
