Velo Museum opens in Brussels!

The new Brussels bicycle museum “velomuseum.brussels” opens in the Belgian and Flemish capital today.  The museum collection includes numerous historic bikes and tells the story of 150 years of cycling in Brussels.

Velomuseum.brussels has found a home on the canal in Brussels in and around the Museum of Flemish Life in the Capital.

It's 150 years ago that the first cycling regulations were introduced in Brussels.  It was here in the capital that Belgium's very first cycling club was established.  Until the early Sixties Brussels was a great place to cycle.  Since then it's been a bit of a struggle.  To commemorate a century and a half of cycling velomuseum.brussels has been opened as a temporary museum.

The museum collection includes an overview of the bikes and equipment used by cyclists as well as photos of bike factories and clubs, forgotten races and velodromes.

The exhibition runs until the end of January.
