Tax breaks for roof insulation to remain in place
In addition to a whole host of grants that are available to those fitting insulation and other energy saving features to their homes, those fitting roof insulation are entitled to a tax rebate amounting to 30%of the value of the work carried out. Since 2014 the rebate has become the responsibility of the regions, in this case Flanders.
After a reform of the system of energy-efficiency grants was announced, Mr Gryffroy asked for clarity about the position of the roof insulation tax rebate.
In her reply Ms Turtelboom said that the rebate would remain in place until at least the end of 2016.
Mr Gryffroy says that he hopes that the reform of the energy-efficiency grant system will continue to encourage people to make their homes more energy efficient.
"The most durable and cheapest form of energy remains the energy that we don’t use in the first place. The reform should start a new wave of renovations in Flanders”, Mr Gryffroy added.
