Leisure centre chain reports former football commentator to the police after he allegedly secretly filmed people in changing rooms

The leisure centre group Sportoase has reported the former football commentor Eddy Snelders to the police for allegedly having secretly filmed swimmers in the changing rooms at its site in Brasschaat (Antwerp Province). The incident allegedly happened 8 years ago. It has come to light during the investigation into voyeurism and exhibitionism perpetrated by Eddy Snelders. Eddy Snelders’ lawyer Sanne De Clerck told VRT News that “Mr Snelders stresses that it was never his intent to film minors”.

Earlier this week it emerged that the former footballer and commentor Eddy Snelders had secretly filmed swimmers in the changing rooms at the Sportoase site in Brasschaat. Sportoase decided to lodge a complaint against Eddy Snelders with the police. Sportoase says that this is standard procedure when this kind of incident occurs.

According to Eddy Snelders' lawyer Sanne De Clerck, he admits taking footage in the changing rooms. "My client says he did not know beforehand who would be filmed. He also strongly denies that he specifically or deliberately targeted minors. My client is fully aware of the seriousness of this and is now focusing fully on his intensive course of therapy."

Hidden cameras in holiday home and family home

The investigation into Eddy Snelders' voyeurism has, amongst other things, already revealed that the former footballer and commentator filmed naked women, including his stepdaughter, with a hidden camera at his holiday home in the Ardennes and in his former family home in Brasschaat.

Eddy Snelders has also been under investigation since December for alleged exhibitionism. A neighbour had told police that she had witnessed the 60-year-old masturbating several times at the office of his real estate and construction company in Brasschaat.
