Australian dealing drugs at Tomorrowland gets three years

A 28-year-old Australian who was caught dealing drugs at the Belgian dance festival Tomorrowland has been given three years' imprisonment by an Antwerp court.

The man was caught red-handed during the second festival weekend in Boom. Police had seen how he handed a small bag containing ectacy pills to another festival-goer and received money for it.

They decided to search the man's tent and discovered a whole lot of drugs: 26 ecstacy pills, 13 doses of LSD and also ketamine, cannabis and even 17 grams of cocaine. The drugs were seized together with over 9,000 euros in cash. The man confessed that the money was generated by selling drugs, and that he also sold drugs during the first festival weekend.

The man will have to stay three years behind bars. The judge didn't want to make it a suspended sentence to "make the offender aware of how serious the facts are". He will also have to pay a fine of 8,000 euros.

At this year's edition of Tomorrowland, one Indian died, most likely as a result of using drugs. A total of 61 persons were caught dealing drugs, while 460 festival-goers were found using drugs.
