Five-fold child murderer can be released from jail
It’s been revealed that a woman who murdered her five children is being released from jail after serving twelve years of a life sentence. Geneviève Lhermitte got life in 2008 in a case brought before the Nivelles court of assizes after murdering her five children the previous year
A Belgian sentence implementation court has just decided on the mother’s early release from jail. Geneviève Lhermitte, who is now 52, murdered her five children whose ages ranged from three to fourteen. A first request for a conditional release last year was refused. Her second application has now been approved. Geneviève Lhermitte can be released as soon as she secures a place in a psychiatric centre. The woman was given penitentiary leave twice last summer in order to receive psychiatric support outside prison.
