Man fights for his life after Schaarbeek shooting
A man is fighting for his life after sustaining life-threatening injuries in a shooting on the pavement terrace of a café in the northern Brussels suburb of Schaarbeek local police have confirmed.
The incident took place yesterday around 10:30 p.m. in the Joseph Brandstraat. When the emergency services arrived, they found a man had been shot. "He sustained life-threatening injuries," said police spokeswoman Audrey Dereymaeker.
"The police alerted the Brussels prosecutor's office, which dispatched an examining magistrate to the scene," Dereymaeker added. "The investigation is ongoing and to ensure it is successful the police will not comment further."
