Motor cyclist killed in accident on N36 in West Flanders

A motor cyclist has been killed in an accident on the the N36 trunk road in the West Flemish municipality of Lendelede. The motorcyclist was involved in a collision with a car that was heading in the opposite direction.

 

The exact circumstances of the accident remain unclear. The car spun around and ended up facing the opposite direction to which it had been driving.

The right-hand side of the vehicle was badly damaged and the right had front door of the car was dislodged. Debris from the accident was strewn over dozens of metre.   

The motorcycle was catapulted into a verge on the other side of the road. He was killed instantly. The road remained closed for several hours. The Judicial Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
