Flemish Parliament approves merger of 28 municipalities

On 1 January 2025, 28 Flemish municipalities will merge forming 13 new larger municipalities: the Flemish Parliament approved the necessary legislation today.  Below you can see the new names and location of the new municipalities as well as which existing municipalities are being merged.  The new merged municipalities are entitled to debt relief from the Flemish authorities worth some 270 million euros.
