Anderlecht parts company with coach after just 13 games
The Belgian First Division club Sporting Anderlecht has parted company with its coach Frank Rutten after only just over 3 months in charge. In a statement released on Tuesday morning the club says that Frank Rutten’s departure has come about as a result of “mutual agreement” as the Dutchman didn’t want to stay on beyond the end of the season.
To say that Anderlecht is in the doldrums would be something of an understatement. The 34-times Belgian Champions have lost their first 4 Play-off I games and given the form of the teams above them in the league appear unlikely to qualify for either of next season’s European competitions. The last time that happened was more than half a century ago.
In Tuesday morning’s press statement RSC Anderlecht go on to say that "After 3 days of talks Fred Rutten has decided that he doesn’t want to be a part of our sporting plan for next season. As we want to give the staff the chance to prepare for the future in optimal circumstances, both parties have agreed to bring our collaboration to an end with immediate effect”.
"Anderlecht values the work that Fred has done in difficult circumstances. We are parting company with mutual respect and we wish Fred every success in his future career”.
