“Girl” pockets Ensors at Ostend Film Festival

Lukas Dhont’s movie “Girl” took an amazing eight prizes or Ensors at the Ostend Film Festival.  “Girl” won best film, best director and best actor for Viktor Polster.

 

Dhont’s film debut tells the story of 15-year-old Lara, who was born in the body of a boy and tries to make it as a ballerina.

“Girl” that also picked up the Ensor for best film script.  Lead actor Viktor Polster said the eight Ensors formed the best recognition the movie had received since release last October.

Ruth Beeckmans won the Ensor for best actress in “Trio”.

Stijn Coninx “Niet Schieten” won the best box office prize, while director Hans Herbots received the Albert Bert prize for his international break through.
