HP to axe another 300 jobs in Belgium
The jobs cuts should be completed by the end of 2015, PR Manager Herbert Wormgoor of HP Benelux told the ICT Magazine Data News. "We reached an agreement with the social partners on a workforce management trajectory involving 300 jobs."
The news was confirmed by trades unions. The job losses are part of a worldwide restructuring operation that HP is carrying out. Belgium is hit again, after 265 positions were scrapped last year. The aim is to have as many people leave the company on a voluntary basis first. "We are hoping to find 300 "volunteers" to leave the business, in order to avoid dismissals. However, considering the size of the operation, it is not sure that this will do the job", trades unions fear.
HP is now employing some 1,850 people in Belgium.
