Bozar starts Bruegel Year with an exhibition of work by Bernard van Orley

The Brussels Palace of Fine Arts Bozar has kicked its Bruegel Year. With an exhibition of work by one of Pieter Bruegel’s predecessors, the renaissance artist Bernard van Orley. The exhibition opened on 20 February and runs until 26 May. For the first time around 100 works by the Brussels artist are being show together in one exhibition. 

Bernard van Orley was one of the leading innovators in 16th century Flemish art. He continued in the tradition of the Flemish Primitives while at the same time introducing new elements to his work to create his own visual langue.
