Netflix opens office in Brussels’ European District

The news that Netflix has set up shop in Brussels appears in Saturday’s edition of the business daily ‘L’Echo’.

Netflix recently launched a European offensive. The American company has its European HQ in Amsterdam, an office in London, a production facility in Spain and is soon to open an office in the French capital Paris.

Netflix is keen to invest in European productions and 1 billion US Dollar has been set aside for this end.

There is little room for the company to grow on the US market, where Netflix has 60 million subscribers so it has set its sights on Europe. Moreover, a new EU directive obliges Netflix to invest some of its income in European productions. Meanwhile, the tax shelter facility offered to those producing films and series here in Belgium is something that is no doubt of interest to Netflix.
