Tesla car goes up in flames at Antwerp North

A car of the Tesla marque went up in flames at the Antwerp North supercharger point last night.  Fire-fighters were soon at the scene.  They encountered a Tesla completely engulfed in flames, but were soon able to put out the blaze.

Belgian fire-fighters follow special procedures in order to tackle blazes involving electric cars.  Electric cars can reignite even after a fire has been put out.  This is why the vehicles are dipped into a container of water where the vehicle has to remain for 24 hours.

The car's owners, a Dutch couple, told fire-fighters they had noticed a smell of burning when they left home.  While charging in Belgium the car caught fire.  Fortunately nobody was injured.  For the minute the charging point is out of service.
