Police looking for attempted murderer after Sint-Joost attack

Police in Sint-Joost (Brussels) are hunting for the man who beat a fellow Muslim out on the street in May.  Police say that the incident was one of horrendous aggression and have appealed for information on the suspected attacker.

It was around 8PM on 20 May that several Muslims got into a row on the intersection of the Bergopstraat and the Groenstraat in Brussels' smallest municipality. The fact that one of the men had drunk alcohol in public during the Ramadan, the Muslim month of fasting, triggered the row that ended in blows being exchanged.

The victim is a 39-year-old.  He suffered major injuries and ended up in a coma.  To this day he is still suffering the consequences of the attack.  Police are treating the case as attempted murder and as the suspect is still at loose are appealing for information.
