Plant mats to improve water quality and fight toxic algae in Ieper

Plant mats are being installed on Ieper's canals to boost water quality and fight toxic blue-green algae. The plants should lift oxygen levels in the water, and boost biodiversity. So far, the mats have a length of about 200 metres. They are being installed after a pilot project just 10 metres in length proved successful last year.
