Temperatures set to rise during the weekend

The Royal Meteorological Institute’s (KMI’s) forecasts that temperatures over the weekend will be higher than we have become used to in recent days. Nevertheless, there will still be showers and on Sunday gusts of wind reaching up to 70 km/h. 

Friday afternoon will see cloud with rain in some areas. The rain is most likely in the northwestern half of the country. Maximum temperatures will be around 10°C in coastal areas and on high ground in the Ardennes, and around 13°C or 14°C in central areas and in the Kempen area of Antwerp and Limburg Provinces.

Friday evening and Friday night will remain fairly cloudy with a front bringing more rain or showers entering the country from the west. There is a possibility of thunder in areas south of the Rivers Sambre and Meuse. The chance of rain will remain limited. Minimum temperatures will fall to between 4°C and 7°C.

Saturday will see cloud interspersed with bright spells. There will be showers that will become more frequent during the afternoon. Meanwhile, the chance of thunderstorms will increase. It will become milder with maximum temperatures reaching 13°C in the Ardennes and 16°C or 17°C in most other areas.

Sunday will be breezy with longer brighter periods interspersed with cloud and some showers. Maximum temperatures will be between 12°C and 16°C. Winds will be moderately strong inland and at times strong at the coast with gusts of up to 70km/h and more in some areas.

Monday will be sunny in the northwestern half of the country. During the day, cloud will increase and there is the chance of a shower at some locations. In the southeast, there will be more cloud cover. The rain and showers may be accompanied by thunder. Maximum temperatures will reach around 13°C or 14°C on the High Fens, around 15°C at the coast and between 16°C and 18C° elsewhere.

On Tuesday there will be some cloud with showers and periods of rain. There is a chance of thunderstorms. Maximum temperatures will be between 16°C and 20°C. Winds will be mainly slight south southeasterly.
