Condolence book for Bjorg Lambrecht in Knesselare

A condolence register has been opened in Knesselare and Aalter after the tragic death of the promising cyclist Bjorg Lambrecht. Lambrecht passed away on Monday after a crash in the Tour of Poland. He grew up in Knesselare (East Flanders) and was very popular there. His promising results in youth races (he challenged Tour de France winner Egan Bernal in the mountains some years ago) earned him the nickname "the Knesselare King". Aalter Mayor Pieter De Crem was among those signing the condolence book, but he said "words and writings come short to express the great loss we are feeling".
