4 peregrine falcons born at Grimbergen Basilica
The Basilica in the Flemish Brabant municipality of Grimbergen has four new residents. Over the weekend four eggs that had been laid by a peregrine all hatched. The first two eggs hatch on Friday afternoon, with a third chick seeing daylight for the first time on Saturday. The fourth egg hatched on Sunday morning at 6:30am.
This is the fourth consecutive year that a couple of peregrine falcons have chosen to nest and breed at the Basilica, just over 10 km north of Brussels.
As in previous years locals and visitors to Grimbergen were able to follow the birth of the birds of prey on a big screen that had been set up on the square adjacent to the Basilica.
