Sharia4Belgium under attack after Molenbeek riots
The deputy head of the centre, Eduard Delruelle, told the VRT: "In the past the group has repeatedly incited hatred and violence, notably against gays". Recently, this led to the conviction of the spokesman of Sharia4Belgium, Fouad Belkacem. He received a two year sentence.
After a woman with a full face veil was stopped and arrested last week Sharia4Belgium called on people to protest outside the police station. The protest led to a riot.
Interior Minister Milquet: "The hallucinating pronouncements during the demonstration, at the news conference and in their video are unacceptable. The authorities will provide a response to these crass words. They will be investigated."
Ms Milquet added that the events of last week show how important it is to strengthen efforts against radical fundamentalism. The Interior Minister plans to draw up a specific plan in the course of this very month.
The plan will focus on combatting racism as well as the co-ordination and modification of our legislation.
