GPS takes articulated lorry down country lane

Ramblers in woodland in Asbeek near Asse got the surprise of their life on Monday when they noticed a truck and trailer negotiate the Stevensveld road. Somebody had messed up when they put the address into the GPS guidance system. The lorry should have been bound for 'Steenveld' but was directed along the 'Stevensveld' by mistake.

The vehicle was carrying 30 tons of concrete slabs when it started to negotiate the Stevensveld that is a dirt road off the Asbeekstraat. It was hardly surprising that a hundred metres into the forest the truck got stuck. Efforts by the driver to extricate the truck proved fruitless and he was obliged to enlist the services of a specialised break down company. It took many hours before the tow-away operation could be completed as all the concrete slabs had to be unloaded first.
