Two firms gutted by fire in Flemish Brabant village

Two commercial premises in the Flemish Brabant municipality have been destroyed by fire. The fire broke out on Saturday night, gutting a carpentry firm and a company specialised in the hire of audio-visual material.

The fire started shortly after midnight and spread very quickly. When the first fire fighters arrived flames were already coming through the roof. Fire-fires from a number of fire stations in the Flemish Brabant West Fire Service Area and reinforcements from East Flanders fought to bring the blaze under control and stop it spreading to the surrounding trees and bushes.

Although they were successful in doing this, they were unable to save the building that was largely destroyed by the fire. A number of vehicles parked on the companies’ premises were also destroyed. No one was injured in the fire, the cause of which is as yet unknown.
