Travel on MIVB services for free on Sunday 2 December
The bus, tram and metro services operated by the Brussels public transport company MIVB will be free-of-charge on Sunday 2 December. The offer of free public transport is to encourage people to take part in Sunday’s “Claim the Climate” march that Climate Express and Klimaatcoalitie (Climate Coalition) are staging to coincide with opening of the COP24 climate conference in the Polish city of Katowice.
The organisations are demanding the implementation of the measure agreed on at the Paris Climate Conference in 2015.
The march will set off from outside Brussels north railway station at 12 noon and is due to arrive at the Jubel Park sometime between 4pm and 5pm.
On Sunday the gates that give passengers access to the platforms at metro stations will be opened and those using trams and busses will not have to purchase a ticket or validate any tickets that they might have.
Diversions due to the march
A number of bus routes will be diverted and/or disrupted during the march. These are bus routes 14, 20, 21, 29, 47, 58, 60, 61, 63, 65; 66, 79, and 88. Tram routes 92 and 93 will also experience disruption during the march.
