Standard alone at the top after a convincing win

Standard de Liège are now alone at the top of the Belgian First Division after a convincing 3-0 home win against AS Eupen. Standard now have 18 points from 8 games, while AS Eupen are bottom with just 3 points.

After their victory on Thursday in their first Europe League group stage game. Standard de Liège were looking to give their fans something to cheer about for the second time in three days. The difference in quality between the two teams shone through and Standard’s victory was as deserved as it was large.

Laifis opened the scoring for Standard on 6 minutes. Aleksandar Boljevic scored the first of 2 goals on 27 minutes to make for a half time score of 2-0 to Standard. Boljevic’s second goal of the match on 61 minutes meant that it was over and out for KAS Eupen. To make matters worse for the Pandas Jordi Amat was sent off 6 minutes from time.
