Belgian men’s 4x400 relay team takes gold in Glasgow

The Belgian 4x400 metre relay has taken the gold medal at the European Indoor Athletics Championships in the Scottish city of Glasgow. In a nail-biting final lap Kevin Borlée just managed to get the better of his Spanish opponent to ensure that the Belgian Tornados took gold.

The Belgian 4x400 metres team was made up of the same runners as at 4 years ago in Prague. First up was Julien Watrin whose strong performance set Dylan Borlée up to be able to hand over the baton to his brother Jonathan with Belgium in the lead.

Jonathan Borlée started strongly however by the end of his 400 metres. Belgium had lost the lead to Spain. Kevin Borlée saved the day though with an excellent final sprint that ensured that he finished ahead of the Spaniard Bernat Erta.
