Club Brugge second after convincing win

Club Brugge has moved up to second place in the Belgian First Division after a convincing 4-1 win away at Mouscron-Péruwelz. Club Brugge needed a few minutes to get into the swing of things, but they certainly turned up the heat once they were. The Mouscron keeper De Vlamynck’s goal was besieged, but Mouscron survived the onslaught.

Club’s opening goal came from a beautifully-placed Gedoz free-kick on 26 minutes. This knocked to stuffing out of Mouscron and it wasn’t until the end of the half that come anything like close to an equaliser. However, the Club Brugge keeper Ryan was able to deny Badri on both occasions.

Club Brugge extended their lead 2 minutes into the second half when Tom De Sutter beat the off-side trap to score his first of 2 goals.

Despite a brave effort on the part of Mouscron with Badri having efforts saved by Ryan, Tom De Sutter made it 3-0 to Club on 65 minutes.

It was over and out Mouscron and Castillo made it 4-0 to Club 7 minutes later. A goal by Mouscron-Péruwelz’s Perez on 88 minutes was simply too little, too late and the match ended 4-1 to Club Brugge.

The result sees Club Brugge move up to second place in the league with 24 points from 13 games. Mouscron is 12th with 14 points.
