Volunteers acquitted of people smuggling

Four volunteers that had offered shelter to transit migrants have been acquitted of charges of people trafficking by the criminal court in Brussels. The four were active around the Maximiliaan Park in Brussels where they offered help to transit migrants and refugees. Seven others that were standing trial were found guilty and given sentences of up to three years in prison, in most cases suspended.
