Red Lions reach final European hockey championship after a spectacular victory

The Belgian national hockey team was trailing 2-0 in a high-class semi-final until the last 10 minutes.  In front of an enthusiastic crowd in Antwerp, the Red Lions managed to catch up. On Saturday, Belgium will play against Spain for the European Championship title.

At the halftime, dark clouds hung over the Belgian hockey team, which had shown weaknesses in the defensive. Christopher Rühr scored his first goal on this tournament and put Germany in the lead. Florian Fuchs scored 0:2 shortly afterwards, his third goal at this European Championship.

After Tom Boon's attack on the German goal against the post stranded, it looked threatening for the Red Lions in Antwerp in front of their own audience. Should the reigning World Champion fail in the semi-finals of this European Championship ?

The turning point came with Tom Boon, who shot a penalty through the German goalkeeper's legs into the net.

In the fourth quarter, De Kerpel equalled the score. The 2:2 seemed to free the Red Lions, cheered on by an enthusiastic audience. When Wegnez took the Belgian team into the lead with a world-class goal, the Red Lions were virtually in the final.

Belgium scored their fourth goal in a few minutes later, thanks to a penalty corner transformed by Charlier.
