Man lay dead in his flat for three months
A 67-year-old man has been found dead in his flat in the town of Heist-op-den-Berg in Antwerp Province. He had lay dead in the flat on the Bergstraat for three months before his body was discovered. According to an article in the daily ‘Het Nieuwsblad’ the validity of which has been confirmed by VRT News’ sources, no one had noticed that the man had died.
The flat is in a busy shopping street in the heart of Heist-op-den-Berg. Although the man was found two weeks ago, the news of the discovery on his body has only been released now. No one had noticed that he had died. Eventually one of the dead man’s neighbour informed the police as his letterbox was full to bursting point and she hadn’t seen him for some time.
When police officers found the man’s body it was in a well-advanced state of discomposure. The police don’t believe that the man died as a result of foul play. The man has since been cremated.
