Serious incident in Ghent, as man drives his car into picket line
Today's industrial action has seen a serious incident in Ghent. Two people sustained light injuries when a man steered his car into a picket line near the Ghelamco Arena. Police had to show their weapon to stop the assailant.
Matto Langeraert of the Ghent police explains that "a motorist drove his car deliberately into a group of strikers. Two people sustained light injuries, with one of them being transported to hospital for a check-up."
This was not the end of the story: "The car next continued its course. The motorist accelerated and ignored our colleagues' order to stop. One of them then pulled his weapon, after which the car finally stopped. The driver was arrested and is being questioned."
