Flemish Brabant company to develop wind farm off the Australian coast

The Flemish wind farm developer Parkwind is to develop a wind farm of the coast of Australia. The project will be a joint venture together with the Australian company Alinta Energy.

Parkwind’s parent company, the Japanese firm Jera announced the news of Parkwind’s forthcoming Australian project on Wednesday morning.

Parkwind and Alinta Energy will jointly construct the Spinifex Wind Farm off the coast of South Australia. The farm will have up to seventy wind turbines. This will be good for an electricity production capacity of more than 1 gigawatt. The project’s website says that this is enough to power around 650,000 homes.

Parkwind was sold by the Halle (Flemish Brabant)-based Colruyt Group to the Japanese company Jera in 2023.
