Negotiations between the two boxers’ representatives and the promotor have been underway for some time. Now a binding agreement and the fight can go ahead in New York in a month and a half’s time.

34-year-old Delfine Persoon is the ten-times and reigning WBC World Champion. Last month she successfully defended her title in Kortrijk (West Flanders) by beating the American boxer Melissa St. Vil.

32-year-old Katie Taylor holds the WBO, WBA and IBF world titles. In 2012 she took gold at the London Olympics.

The fight will be held on the same evening as the men’s heavyweight fight between England’s Anthony Joshua and the American boxer Jarrell Miller.
