Dennis 'Black Magic' has rarely been out of the headlines.

Dennis 'Black Magic' gets 7 years for rape and distributing images of child sexual abuse

Dennis 'Black Magic', whose real name is Dennis Burkas, has been sentenced to 7 years in prison and a fine of 4,000 euros for raping eight women and distributing images of child sexual abuse, a court in the eastern town of Tongeren has decided. The sentence is stiffer than the one requested by the public prosecutor. "He has flouted every form of regulation," the verdict says.

Dennis Burkas - better known as Dennis 'Black Magic' - has again been sentenced for sexual offences. That "again" is important, because the courts are coming down more heavily on repeat offenders. He has "learned nothing" from previous convictions, indicating a "far-reaching blurring of standards. He sets no store by any kind of regulation" the judge said.

Dennis Burkas (49) became known as Dennis 'Black Magic' after coming to prominence as a producer of adult movies and nude calendars featuring Flemish female celebs.

But the man also a darker side. He has already been convicted several times in the past: twice for the rape of underage girls (in 2008 and 2011). In 2017, he was again convicted for inciting a minor to prostitution. He also has convictions for forgery, fraud and several traffic offences.

Taking his track record into account the court sentenced Burkas to seven years imprisonment - more than the 5 years the public prosecutor asked, precisely on account of the repetition. Burkas has now been convicted of raping and assaulting eight women, (electronic) stalking, threats and distributing images of child sexual abuse. On other  charges he was acquitted.

How did Burkas set to work?

He convinced victims that he could help them launch and build a career in modelling, pornography or erotica. "In reality, this was based on nothing but verbal grandstanding by the accused, who was still using his fame and contacts from the distant past when he was active as a porn producer," the court ruling says.

The case started in 2020 when porn actress and Only Fans model Nanoe Vaesen (28) went to court to say that Burkas pressurised her into having sex with him. In return, she would appear on the covers of Playboy and P magazine and he would also promise to put her in touch with a major European porn producer.

The investigation that followed showed that Ms Vaesen was not the only one: Burkas finally faced charges relating to 15 victims.

He was also found to be in possession of images of child sex abuse.

Burkas’s arrest has now been ordered.  He has vowed to appeal his conviction.
