Code Yellow weather warning issued with rain, high winds and thunder storms on their way
The Royal Meteorological Institute (KMI) has issued a Code Yellow weather warning with outbreaks of heavy rain and thunder storms forecast for later today. The storms could result in localised disruption, for example due to fallen branches blocking roads and paths or cause damage to property.
Outbreaks of rain spreading across the country from the northwest can be accompanied by gusts of wind reaching speeds of between 70 and 80 km/h.
Monday night will see changeable weather. We can still expect showers in northern areas with the possibility of thunder and winds reaching speeds of between 60 and 70 km/h. In southern areas the chance of showers is less. However, there is some risk of mist or fog.
Temperatures will fall to 7 or 8°C on the High Fens, 11 or 12°C in central areas and 13°C at the coast.
The rest of the week
Tuesday will see scattered showered with the possibility of thunder. Top temperatures will reach 14°C on the High Fens and 19°C in Flanders. Winds will be moderate in most areas, but there could be gusts of high wind in coastal areas.
Wednesday will start off dry with sunny interval. However, cloud will increase in the afternoon and rain will slowly spread across the country from coastal areas. Top temperatures will reach between 17°C and 21°C.
Thursday will start off cloudy with rain. It will gradually become dryer in the afternoon. Temperatures will reach 20°C in central areas.
Southern areas will see rain on Friday. However, in Flanders it will remain mainly dry. Temperatures will reach 19 or 20°C.
