It’s another “Weekend without alcohol”!!!

Belgian police are staging a repeat of the operation “Weekend without alcohol behind the wheel” this weekend.  From Friday evening until Monday morning they will be carrying out countless extra checks on drivers to make sure they are not over the legal drink-drive limit.

It’s not only drink the police are worried about they also want to encourage motorists not to drive when they are high on drugs.  It’s not the first time such an operation has been staged.  Last January nearly 350,000 drivers were checked.  Nearly 2% was over the drink-drive limit.

The police hope to increase awareness about this problem across the motoring public, but they are also increasing the chance that you will be breathalysed in order to raise the risk of being caught if you are a hardened drink driver.
