Michelin-star chef Thijs Vervloet from Colette – De Vijvers to represent Belgian gastronomy at Paris Olympics

Michelin-star chef Thijs Vervloet from restaurant Colette - De Vijvers in Averbode in Scherpenheuvel – Zichem (Flemish Brabant) will be preparing meals at the Lotto Belgium House during this summer’s Paris Olympics. The aim is to highlight Belgian gastronomy. Other Michelin-star chefs and performers including Daan and Tourist LeMC will also swing by.

100 days before the start of the Paris Olympics, the Lotto Belgium House is ready to welcome Belgian supporters. The supporters’ house is located in the centre of Paris, a stone's throw away from the Champs-Elysées. It is truly the ideal place to support Belgian athletes.

To highlight Belgian gastronomy, 3 star chefs will be at work at the Lotto Belgium House: Yves Mattagne from La Villa Lorraine in Brussels, Ricarda Grommes from Quadras in Sankt Vith and Thijs Vervloet from 2-star restaurant Colette - De Vijvers in Averbode. Each will prepare meals for a week.

"It's quite an honour to be able to represent Belgian gastronomy on behalf of Flanders at the Paris Olympics," says Thijs Vervloet. "We will serve a 3-course signature menu from our restaurant every day. It is served to invited guests, sponsors, athletes coming to celebrate their medals, but also to Belgian supporters. Belgian gastronomy is really top notch."

"Feels like a home-coming"

Chef Vervloet once worked and lived in Paris for over two years. That makes it extra special for him. "It feels like a home-coming. It's very nice, I know Paris very well. That makes it all the more special and unique to be here during the Olympics. I'm looking forward to the atmosphere and especially to meeting athletes like Nina Derwael, Wout van Aert and the Belgian hockey team."

The Lotto Belgium House will also host performers including Plastic Bertrand, Daan and Tourist LeMC. You can buy a ticket for the Lotto Belgium House for one or more time slots, but some of the slots have already sold out.
