Public prosecutor investigates gang rape of 14-year-old girl in Kortrijk, alleged rapists aged between 11 and 16 years old
The West Flanders public prosecutor's office is investigating a gang rape of a 14-year-old girl in Kortrijk. The alleged rapists are aged between 11 and 16. The rape took place during last month’s Easter vacation, but news of the attack has only now been released.Â
The girl was allegedly lured into bushes by her boyfriend, where she was raped by several of the boy's friends. The several suspects have been detained.
Tom Janssens of the West Flemish public prosecutor's office told VRT News that "The youngest suspect is 11 years old. As the suspects are so young, we are not releasing much information. However, they have all been identified and arrested and measures have been taken by the juvenile court. Our attention is now going first and foremost to the victim. She is receiving counselling."
