Missing Flemish woman “murdered” in Tenerife, her husband is unaccounted for

The body of the missing Flemish senior Laura Trappeniers (66) has been recovered from the sea in Tenerife in the Canaries (Spain). The news was reported in several Spanish media and the Belgian foreign ministry has confirmed the discovery of the woman’s body. Ms Trappeniers and her husband had been missing for several days.  There is currently no trace of Ms Trappeniers's husband Marc Olbrechts. 

The Belgian couple, Laura Trappeniers (66) and her husband Marc Olbrechts (71), was last seen on 22 April. A missing persons’ report was issued two days later. The two lived in the town of Adeje, in the southwest of Tenerife. Their car, a blue Opel Mokka with a Spanish license plate, could not be traced either. The Belgian foreign ministry is aware of the disappearance and is following the case closely.

Yesterday "localizada" ('located') appeared on the search report with regard to Ms Trappeniers. For a long while it remained unclear whether the woman had been found dead or alive. Now it appears that the woman is deceased. Her body was found in the sea. The Belgian foreign ministry has confirmed the news. The woman’s family has been informed. According to Spanish media, Ms Trappeniers has been murdered, but Belgian sources are unwilling to confirm this at present.  A judicial investigation has been launched in Spain.
